On October 26, a 20-year-old male university student was found undressed and collapsed in a park in Ebetsu City, Hokkaido, and later died. In this case, police have arrested three people, including a 17-year-old boy, on suspicion of injury resulting in death, and a 20-year-old female university student who is believed to have been in a relationship with the victim, on suspicion of injury. The police are investigating the details of the assault, believing it to have been a group assault.
On October 26, a university student from Chitose City, Tomoya Hase (20), was found unconscious and undressed on a promenade in a park in Ebetsu City, Hokkaido, and later died.
There were many bruises on his upper body, especially on his face and arms, and the police were investigating the possibility that he had been assaulted by multiple people.
As a result, a university student from Ebetsu City, Ama Yagihara (20), who is believed to have been at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of injury for assaulting the male university student between late night on the 25th of this month and the early morning of the following day.
In addition, three suspects – Kawamura Haoto (20), a university student from Ebetsu City, who turned herself in to the police on the 28th, a 17-year-old boy who claimed to be a part-time employee, and an 18-year-old who claimed to be a high school student – were also arrested on suspicion of injury resulting in death in connection with the incident.
According to the police, the four arrested were friends, and of the four, Yagihara is believed to have been dating a male university student.
Police believe that the assault was carried out by a group, and are investigating the details of what happened.
The police have not revealed whether the four have admitted to the crime.
